deuter exosphere -6 sleeping bag

I had been using a deuter travelite 300 synthetic bag for a few years and was really happy with it so when it came time to buy a replacement I was going to stick with a brand name I was familiar with.

Deuter have discontinued the travelite model so went through their range and looked for one with similar specs. The exosphere -6 is an upgrade on the previous model. The bag is recommended for temperatures down to -6 which is warmer than the travelite and will be ideal for use at the beginning and end of the summer here in Scotland.

There are other improvements over the previous bag. The foot of the bag is taller and has additional insulation which is great for keeping my feet warm but also allowing room to move around. There is also a degree of lateral stretch in the bag which is quite narrow. This is provided by elasticated stiching every twenty centimeters down the length of the bag and ensures the bag fits snugly but allows for extra movement.

Although the exosphere is warmer, the pack size and weight means it packs down slightly smaller. It has a packed size of 21cm x 35cm and weighs 1450g making it ideal for bike touring.
