This is the story of my journey from owning a bike which lay mostly unused in my spare room for nearly ten years to becoming a cycling enthusiast .

When I retired at the age of 66 in 2023, I had been cycling regularly for a couple of years, commuting to work, in all weathers, and covering at least 25 kilometers daily. With work ending I wanted to continue cycling, not only to keep up my fitness levels but also because I really enjoyed it. That was when I began to think about cycle touring. I had not been on multi-day trips since I was an early teenager and never carried camping gear on a bike, so this was going to be a different experience for me. I was about to open up a completely new way of holidaying.

I started the blog to keep a journal of my cycling experiences, thoughts and opinions. My intention is to keep it up to date but like my cycling, my writing often falls victim to the vagaries of my laziness.
