When I was building my mountain bike as a second machine, I needed a saddle. I had transferred my trusted Brooks leather saddle on to my ALICE tourer as it was well broken-in and comfortable. I did consider swapping the saddle over as I used each bike but that wasn’t really practical. So, I needed to buy a seat and had a look on e-bay. I had a Brooks cambium previously which I swapped for the leather one so I thought I’d look for another and found a blue one at a reasonable price. Purely for looks, I sourced a second hand orange saddle to fit in with the colour scheme of the rest of the bike.
The cambium saddle is made to Brooks’ high standard and its looks match the functuality. I found it comfortable right from the first time I used it. The rubber material flexes to allow some give when riding. Not as comfortable as a worn in leather one but just as good as many other plastic, padded saddles I’ve tried. It feels very durable and as I use it for longer will be able to assess its longevity.
I do know that it won’t be getting any more fitted to my shape but for short journeys it does a great job. I have been tempted to replace it with another leather saddle and may do as I get older but for now it’s as good a saddle as I could hope for.
