aeropress go travel, coffee maker

For anyone who enjoys their coffee definitely not instant, this is the thing to take camping. If you are one of those for whom every gram is there to be discarded maybe not but if you have room for just a little extra weight it is well worth it for fresh coffee at the boiling of a kettle.

The Aeropress is compact with a packed size of 13 x 10 x 10cm and weighs 355g. The complete kit packs into a cup which has a rubber top which doubles up as a drip tray.

I bought the coffee maker complete with paper filters and a stainless steel, reusable filter. I used the steel one a few times but reverted to paper ones when I am away camping. I found that it was easier to eject the grounds straight into a bin without having to remove the filter first. That’s when I remembered to remove it. I did have to reach into a bin to rescue it on one more than occasion. The metal filter also comes wiith a container which only just fits under the cap. The paper filters will fit inside the cup with the supplied measuring spoon and stirrer when the plunger is stored inside it. You could always leave out these extras and use a spoon to save a little more weight.

There are other coffee making products available. I haven’t used any of them so can’t compare. But this is one I have found to be simple to use and compact to carry. So, if like me you enjoy real coffee when you are on a camping trip, I can really recomment this.
